Current mood: buried in game

Whoops, I kind of forgot about this thing for. Two months. Again. Uh...

Anyway, in news that should shock absolutely no one, Persona 4 is the best thing people have yet accomplished using Jungian psychology. At the same time, if Persona 3's overarching theme was peeing at every opportunity, 4 is about eating terrible things you find in the fridge. Either way, there's no sufficient excuse for not playing it. As for me, I'm racing through at top speed in vain hopes of having less distration from my finals this week.

By the way, [info]lakupo: I tried your suggestion about cracking eggs against a flat surface last time I was home, and all I got was egg on my counter. I'm just not sure I'm meant to make eggs any other way than scrambled. Which is fine because that's the best anyway, but still.

When I try the flat surface thing, I use a plate or something, since I hate washing counters and cutting boards, but plates are easy. My sister made fried eggs this morning, and she cracked them on the edge of the pan. One had an intact yolk, the other was slightly broken. Oddly enough, the intact yolk one had a few pieces of shell in it. Go figure.

Buy a carton of really cheap eggs and practice more! Crack crack crack the egg into the bowl!

...Okay, I understand the eating terrible things analogy, but I'm a bit vague about the peeing at every opportunity one. Maybe it's because I haven't finished P3 yet? Does it mean catharsis? Perhaps at the expense of others? I need to be more edumacated.

It means pissing like a goddamn sieve. Bonus points for doing it more than once while breaking into the school at night with Yukari.

I'm pretty sure I always allowed for the possibility of someday putting it on my OOC account.

Duuuuuuh. Man, it took me a couple of days for that to sink in. Last time I was playing P3, it was in FES so I had nothing to do at night but sleep, so I didn't need the bathroom for great status. Plus, you can only try for great status once a day, then it's all the same.

I thought you were being metaphorical or something!

Did you happen to get an artbook with Persona 4? :)

Nope, gamestop stiffed me. (Sadly it was pretty much my only option, though.) On the plus side, I hear it's pretty spoilery, so maybe it's best that I didn't have it right away.

If you want one, I can see if we have any extras at the one I work at. Play a game called Eternal Poison?

I can't do the thing where you crack eggs with one hand, but I always put the crack in the egg on a flat surface (to keep egg shrapnel out of the egg).

If an egg is really fresh, the membrane just inside the egg is still pretty thick though, so that might be giving you issues- it makes cracking eggs harder by far- even in boiled eggs (if not especially).

I should point out that I don't usually have a lot of problems with getting bits of shell in my eggs. I just can't consistently keep the yolk intact. But that's an interesting tidbit too! I never knew cracking eggs was so complicated.

In that case you just have to use a light sharp tap. Try for only one, and on the side of the egg. I think the more you agitate the egg the more likely the yolk will bust.

ALSO if you're dropping the egg from too high, that'll do it- if it's busting upon impact with the pan- the solution here is to crack your eggs into a smaller bowl first, and then pour into the skillet from the bowl. This is great to do with fried eggs anyway (if you eat more than one) because then they're both cooking evenly instead of one hitting the heat first.
